Drug Testing Lab

What we do

The 61st District Court Drug Testing Lab provides urine drug and alcohol metabolite screening to support court-ordered monitoring. We offer scheduled, random, and one-time tests. Collections are observed to protect sample integrity, and results are sent to the referring party.

• Participants in 61st District Court probation and specialty courts

• Other courts and justice partners in Michigan by arrangement (e.g., pretrial services, diversion programs)

• Referrals coordinated through agencies or court orders

Why this matters for our programs

Reliable testing helps the court make fair, timely decisions across many settings—pretrial conditions, probation, specialty courts, review hearings, and compliance plans. Consistent results:

• Support accountability while encouraging treatment and recovery

• Improve public safety with fast, documented feedback

• Reduce unnecessary sanctions by distinguishing progress from relapse

• Streamline coordination among judges, clerks, probation, treatment providers, and partner courts

Color call-in system (daily “drop line”)

• Some participants are assigned a color. If your color is called, you must test that day.

• Call once per day, seven days a week, at the time given by your program. If you miss a required test, it may be a violation.

Testing menu

We offer a full range of instrument-based urine screens and validity testing (e.g., standard multi-panel screens, EtG for alcohol metabolite, and expanded targets as requested). Contact the lab for the current test menu, cutoffs, and availability.

Payments

If a participant is responsible for the test cost, payment is due at sign-in. See your program or referral paperwork for current pricing; agencies can request a current price sheet.
