Judge Angela T. Ross

Background
Angela T. Ross was appointed to the 61st District Court by Governor Gretchen Whitmer in March of 2022. Prior to her appointment Judge Ross was director of enforcement at Grand Rapids and managed the criminal enforcement division and prosecuted criminal ordinance violations as well as housing, zoning and tax code violations. Prior to beginning that role in 2017, she was a solo practitioner in family, criminal and business law.
She previously worked as an associate with Smith, Haughey, Rice & Roegge. Ross has also worked as a weekend referee in the Kent County Juvenile Detention Center, an assistant federal public defender and an adjunct professor at Grand Valley State University.
Education
Judge Ross earned her Juris Doctor degree from DePaul University College of Law and Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Michigan.
Professional Activities
Judge Ross is the president of the Floyd Skinner Bar Association, a trustee with the Grand Rapids Bar Association and co-chair of the Grand Rapids Bar Minority Clerkship Committee.
